2013 Annual Meeting

The 2013 meeting of the Sons and Daughters of the Colonial and Antebellum Bench and Bar 1565—1861 was held on Friday night, April the 12th, at the Army and Navy Club in Washington, D. C. Bench and Bar was joined by the National Society Sons and Daughters of Antebellum Planters 1607-1861.

Stephen A. McLeod brought the program, a slide presentation on “Dining with the Washingtons”, a book he edited. The business meeting, including the election of a nominating committee, and the memorial service followed.

2012 Annual Meeting

The 2012 meeting of the Sons and Daughters of the Colonial and Antebellum Bench and Bar 1565—1861 was held on Friday night, April the 13th, at the Army and Navy Club in Washington, D. C. Bench and Bar was joined by the National Society Sons and Daughters of Antebellum Planters 1607-1861.

Peyton Dixon, first-person interpreter, brought the program, “Meet John Adams” . Following the program, the business meeting, memorial service and installation of officers were held.

2011 Annual Meeting

The 2011 meeting of the Sons and Daughters of the Colonial and Antebellum Bench and Bar 1565—1861 was held on Friday night, April the 15th, at the Army and Navy Club in Washington, D. C. Bench and Bar was joined by the National Society Sons and Daughters of Antebellum Planters 1607-1861. A cash bar preceded dinner. The brief business meeting included:

  • The election of a nominating committee to select the slate of officers for the 2012—2014 term,
  • Greetings from our scholarship recipient, a law student from William and Mary College, and
  • A re-enactor from Gunston Hall, George Mason’s home, brought the program, “Why George Mason Refused To Sign the Constitution”.

2010 Annual Meeting

The Sons and Daughters of the Colonial and Antebellum Bench and Bar 1565 – 1861 met on Friday night, April the 16th, at the Army and Navy Club in Washington, D. C.

  • Following dinner, the annual scholarship was awarded to a second year law student at William and Mary College.
  • R. Peyton Mahaffey, Esq. spoke on “The Rise of the Lawyer Class from the 1600’s to the Revolution.”
  • National Officers for the 2010 – 2012 term were installed.
